20 to 30 mph with gusts 45 to 55 mph expected, locally higher near
mountain foothills. For the western valleys, more localized wind
gusts 35 to 45 mph. Strongest and most widespread winds will be on
Friday.

Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult,
especially for high profile vehicles.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Winds will be strongest on Friday.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Strongest winds will be on Friday.

* WHAT...High temperatures in the upper 80s to the mid 90s expected.

* WHERE...Orange County Coastal Areas and San Diego County Coastal
Areas.

* WHEN...From 10 AM Thursday to 8 PM PDT Saturday.

* IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase during hot temperatures.

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

* WHAT...Elevated high tides 6.5 to 7 ft will continue through
Thursday with surf of 3 to 5 ft with sets to 6 ft expected.

* WHERE...San Diego County Coastal Areas and Orange County
Coastal Areas.

* WHEN...Through Thursday afternoon.

* IMPACTS...Minor coastal flooding and beach erosion. Dangerous
swimming conditions for inexperienced swimmers.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...High tides will fall below 6.5 ft after
the Thursday high tide. A south swell from 190 degrees of 3 ft
with a 15 to 17 second period will be present through
Thursday. A moderate period, persistent south swell from 190
will continue into next week.

A beach hazards statement for minor tidal overflow means that
high astronomical tides possibly in combination with above normal
surf will likely produce minor flooding of low-lying areas along
the beach such as beach parking lots. Coastal officials should
take the necessary precautionary measures to safeguard their
beaches.

A beach hazards statement is issued when threats such as rip
currents and other hazards are possible.  Caution should be used
when in or near the water.
